That photo of #481 has to be prior to December 5, 1968, when she was towed dead-in-train from Alamosa to Chama by recently-shopped #473 and helper #483. (Look close – the photo is not too fuzzy to see that the main rod and eccentric rod have been removed in preparation for towing.) #473 continued on to Durango with this "hospital" train on December 6, while #483 returned to Alamosa with two of the three cabeese — the very last D&RGW operation over Cumbres Pass.
