At the beginning of the month I spent 4 days on the Cumbres & Toltec, including 2 days aboard the Friends charter with 315. On Saturday June 3rd we ran from Antonito to Cumbres and on Sunday we returned to Antonito (with a C&TS bus ferrying us to and from the pass). It was a great weekend and we were able to do many of the iconic shots on the railroad (Ferguson's Trestle, Rock Tunnel, Cascade Trestle, etc.), along with some new locations that (as far as I know) haven't been done before. We had ideal weather with mostly clear skies both days, except for some uncooperative clouds that built up on Sunday afternoon. Many thanks to all the people that made this trip possible including the Friends, the DRHS, and the C&TS. Olaf Rasmussen coordinated the runby's and, true to form, he provided both good exercise and a number of unique angles if you were up to a little hiking.
315 will be running a couple of more times this year if you'd like to see her running on the C&TS. Next up is a passenger excursion from Antonito to Osier (and return) on Monday August 28th. There will be photo stops on this trip and it's a great low-cost opportunity to ride behind and photograph 315. There doesn't appear to be any info on the C&TS website, but tickets are currently on sale for a very economical $145.75:

315 will also be participating in the Friends of the C&TS RGS recreation trip on September 5th:
