Hi,
About 25-odd years ago I seem to recall reading of a Maine 2-footer being discovered in a barn (maybe in Conneticut?). It was in a magazine like Trains and told about the widow of a fellow who had purchased a small Maine 2-footer. She was old and finally found someone who she felt would take car of the loco properly. She let them lay a section of track outside of the barn and it was the first time the loco was in the open since it had been put there in the 1930s (maybe). I think it was a 0-4-4T but I just do not know well enough.
Do any Mainers know the story of the discovery of the lost locomotive kept in a barn? I think it was Monson #3 but I just do not recall well enough. I would like to read about her unlikely discovery and preservation again.
Thanks.
