Partially correct. Each engine is equipped two injectors, one fireman side and one engineer side. They are both utilized every morning when performing our low water shut off checks. Now are there a couple engineers that cuss a little when they have to use them out on the mainline... lol Yes! Do they fear them, not really. They more get frustrated with them when they're acting up and won't take 
Me, I love Rogers crosshead. He puts water in like a champ. Roy's on the other hand... We HAVE to inject every few laps in order to blow down the prescribed amount of water out of the boiler.
