I'm modelling a mixture of D&RGW and C&S (Marshall Pass, Alpine Tunnel, Kokomo and Jefferson). I know Alpine Tunnel made do with a stub switch till the bitter end (1910), but my other locations will all be modelled in 1936.
I found a picture of the Sargent yard taken from the coaling trestle which gives enough of an angle to tell that all the visible switches have points. I think the picture is 1955, but I imagine any replacements (if there had originally been stubs) would have been done well before 1936, so I'm not planning any stub switches there.
I have a single siding at Jefferson. I presume everything directly off the main would have been points by 1936, even if some stub switches remained in yards (such as at Como)?
Lastly I have two stub lines in Kokomo, but again they're both directly off the main line. I assume those would be points, but both D&RGW's and C&S's tracks in 10-mile canyon were notoriously ill-maintained, so maybe not?
Any thoughts appreciated,
Jeff.
