The direction of the train changes each day. The crew leaves the switches at the wye in the position they are when passing through them. One day the engine is first down the new wye track and the next day the parlor car is first. If you check the position of the switch at the north side of the cattle pens, you can determine which directions the afternoon train will enter and leave the legs of the wye.
