Boy, Doug, I don't think you could come close to recovering capital and operating costs for converting a car or cars into diners with only one train a month. You'd have to use the railroad's stock of existing cars, and your meals would have to be box lunches. I don't think that is what Michael had in mind. BTW, once upon a time I took a tour group of 100 people from the Denver area to ride the C&TS from Chama to Antonito, where we met the chartered motorcoaches to begin the return to Denver. Let me tell you, after 6 or 7 hours on that train, we knew we had taken one heck of an exhausting train ride, and even now, the mere thought of getting back on the train the same day to ride back to Chama sounds like pure torture to me.
