Hi Mike,

When brainstorming, as this is, I have always been in groups were you throw the idea, no matter how unlikely, and see if it is a seed that can be altered or trimmed into something viable.

I see you take the position that it is all or nothing - no changes allowed. A valid approach but not one I happen to agree on.

But I dreamed of a 3rd rail from Alamosa and you said it was dumb to dream because it was not cost effective to replace the rail when I started out with the rail already in place.

As for the idea, I do not think it is going to work.

As far as the optimal visit to the C&TS, I did it many times in the 1990's. I drive from ABQ to Antonito and arrive in time to see the returning train. Next day, I ride to Osier and back. Next day I drive over the hill and again ride Chama to Osier and back. No straight through rides for me - too long a day.

I agree to disagree. You live in your world and I'll live in mine. Someone already does that on this board.
