You would have to have a dedicated locomotive and cars for this service. You would probably have to have two crews because of the hours-of-service laws (how do you get them home at the end of the day?). How this would stack up against, say, the Canon City & Royal Gorge dinner trains, I don't know. But the Gorge dinner trains are an easy day trip for the Front Range cities, involve no overnight stays, and go for $25-70 less than your proposed fares. The service you are describing would involve up to eight hours of driving from each direction and two overnight stays in the Antonito or Chama area. Who would be your targeted audience? Railfans? We have had that discussion before. Families? I can't see families making that kind of time and financial commitment. How frequently would you offer this service? Often enough to recover the investment in creating specialized cars? I don't want to dis your ideas, but I think all of this would be a tough sell.
