Getting the 81 cars of coal over Marshall Pass would have been a rail photogrpher's dream. Eighty-one cars at 36 tons loaded (12 tons per car, 25 tons of coal) equals 2,916 tons. IIRC a K 37 has a 252 ton rating on Marshall. This would require 12 engine trips or three three-engine trains and a two-engine train. That would give plenty of opportunity for photography.
There were other variables like coal going west, different sized cars and different types of locomotives. Still it was a very busy railroad.
