The steam locomotive in use at Erie Canal Village is a Davenport 0-4-0 side tanker. It was built in 1910 as construction number 961. It is not the 1903 Porter 0-4-0/2-4-0 used at Frontiertown. It was originally sold to the Winston Brothers of Westfield, Wisconsin and later it worked at Helca Mine at Burke, Idaho. William Willock used it on his Indian Valley Railroad at Syosett, NY and later it was stored at Frontiertown. Railstar acquired the locomotive, replaced some missing and broken parts; repaired the valve gear, boiler and left cylinder to make the locomotive operational; and replaced the cab, pilot beam and steps.
There are also 2 Plymouth Diesels ex Edaville/Cranberry Belt Corp 11 and 12 in service as backups for the steam locomotive.
The rolling stock was built from the wheels up in 2002/3.
The train was in operation as of Halloween 2007.
