Thanks again, Ed!
So the engine numbered "67" for the 'mumblety peg' scene in
The Magnificent Seven really
was N de M #267 in real life, and she was sidelined in 1968 (as was C&TS #483 in 1975). I assume that #267, unlike #483, has since been scrapped ...
I always liked the look of these well-balanced 2-8-0's, with their huge headlights centered on the smokebox, and am glad to learn that at least one of them has survived and has been returned to service. Other than being oil burners, how similar were they to the outside-frame 2-8-0's that the D&RG obtained from the Crystal River RR?
I presume that el 'tren esenico' mentioned by Ed Kelly is a scenic railway somewhere s.w. of Mexico City. I didn't try to download his videos on my slow dial-up connection, so if anyone should post a couple of small or medium stills (<100K), they will be appreciated.
