Re: Question: Fate of WP&Y heritage coaches

The "heritage cars" (with a few exceptions, all years ago,) survive in use. Most have been rebuilt extensively, removing much of their historic fabric. They now have steel frames or at least center sills and lack truss rods. Modern trucks have replaced the historic builders trucks...

Included in the collection are several Carter Built cars, SPC cars from both the Carter Brothers and Harland, and Hammond Pacific Coast cars.

Many west coast groups have had informal contacts with the railroad. some of the historic trucks made it south to be used under restored bodies... So far the railroad had decided to hang on to the old cars.
