The color would be the same that the SP painted their standard gauge cars in the forties and fifties. You might contact some of the other railroad museums within California or the Southern Pacific Historical and Technical Society. They may be able to help you.

Several years ago -- maybe a decade or more ago -- there were paint remains at Owenyo were the narrow gauge cars were painted. I remembeer when that was one of the few ways of knowing that one had found the site of Owenyo.

The present paint chemistry has caused some -- if not many -- of the colors not to have the stability they once had. You need to remember that even back in the past, the paint would fade and/or chalk and freshly painted cars looked different than a car that had been on the road for some years
