Sorry Phil, I rechecked and you're right. The Pin Truss did span a canal on the Black Hollow Branch.
That's what I get for relying on memory...
I do remember disassembling rail from there and on the UP, though. It was fun to out work the management of the time. (A Denver Lawyer). Sometimes you could even see them sweat.
On the Black Hollow Branch is even better, as the USRA Heavy 2-8-2's that the C&S used to run out there weighed almost twice as much as anything that the Loop can throw at it. This gives them an automatic safety rating of x4.
Also, the Railroads usually built their bridges to a x2 safety factor, which is twice as heavy as it needs to be.
As I said, anything that the State of Colorado can waste money on... for any reason at all. The Loop seems to be catching a LOT of Red Herrings lately.
