On the C&S, there were some incidents of tenders becoming unstable due to top heavy loads in the bunkers.
#75 rolled over into the South Platte river very early on the C&S and the coal bunker was immediately cut down by 12". As I recall, the finding was that the coal load had caused an unstable condition. Fortunately, I don't think anyone was killed. 537's (70's) bunker was also lowered from it's original 537 rebuilt incarnation.
