The "Elkton" ran well today. We made it to Rockwwod, and turned on the wye. Actually, some bearings ran cooler as they broke in. It is not a comfortable locomotive to run, but is strong, steams well and is reflecting the care we made in its rebuilding. The best part is seeing those old Baldwin domes ahead of you , Obviously, it is top-heavy, lurching from side to side as you go down the track. It was one of the better days of my life, as we set a new record... It is the longest trip that a C-class D&RGW engine has run since 1955-36 miles. Next run is a load test- Tuesday.
