The tale I was told was the the 24 was purchesed for the price of $250 (as was the price for any of the SR&RL locos) in 1935 when the railroad was being scrapped. The man who purchesed her built a building around the locomotive right off the old main line by the old covered bridge site. That is where she sat for a year till the town of Strong decided that they wanted to tax the man for the building. So he sold the 24 for scrap and tore down the building.
