I appreciate all the photos that are posted although I don't always express that. I also post photos quite a bit and get the occasional comment. I think that you have to expect that. I don't know if we would want all the threads to become bogged down with replies like "great shot". I like the ones where people notice something in the photo and that leads to further discussion.
There are a lot of lurkers on the board. I have been guilty of that myself. If I want to know how many people are looking at my stuff I usually put it on a page with a hit counter. For instance, the Silverton aerial that I put up about a week ago got a couple of comments but I know that it was viewed over 200 times.
I often wonder if it is really worth the effort to keep my website going. But then if I hadn't kept it going I wouldn't have made all the contacts that I have. I'll get tidbits of useful information from someone I don't even know. That sparks further discussion and I learn more things that I didn't know. That is why I continue to do it. Plus if I can't remember off the top of my head were a car is located I just go to my website
If I hadn't made all those contacts I wouldn't have that information available.
Thanks everyone for the pictures and information that keeps coming. It makes me look forward to that one week or two that I can be in NG country myself. Thanks to all of those dedicated workers on all the lines that keep the railroads running. There are a lot of them out there that put in the extra effort that we don't realize.
Now for the shameless web site plug
