The UFCo owned some more shares of the IRCA than you metioned. Some more 25 % were owned by the Bellman Coop (coffee trader) and they were a 100 % daughter of some of the UFCo remnant companies like Del Monte, Chiquita aso. So they (the UFCo was never really teared apart) has had control over the IRCA. The Adventure of the 70ies putting steam back to track is quite unerstandable when you have a look on Guatemalas finaces. Diesel spare parts are expensive and you have to pay GE or GM in Dollars, but parts for steamers could be made in the orn backshops. Not a succesful thing but the only way they could go. In the late 70ies and 80ies most truck manufactuers spread out in central Amereica by offering low interest credits so Truck transportation was growing. That combined with very low paymet and a "no Union" policy of the companies run don severeal RRs in Central and South America.
