I think the resurgence of green paint might have come about due to the recent plethora of green painted 1:20.3 scale model locomotives. Accucraft started it, then I noticed D&S came out with their greens, now 346, who's next? All it takes is someone to bring something back and then it catches on. Seems to have happened with green boilers.
Incidentally 346 and Accucraft got together to develop a 1:20.3 model of 346 to sell. One of the versions had a green boiler.
So I might be way off here, but seems too much of a coincidence to me.
Oh and speeders (I'm not a fan of motor cars...reminds me of Mr. Toad), are definitely still called "pop" cars on the D&S. I rode on a D&S speeder two summers ago. Most of the crew I saw along the way, including my driver referred to them as pop cars.
