By coincidence I was reading one of the Col.Rail Annuals lately on the C&S. I was just looking at photos comparing 346 before and after shopping by the C&S after it was in a major wreck. The C&S guys didn't replace the broken dome rings, but I see it now has them. It looks real sweet!! The C&S guys also replaced the wood cab with steel after it was destroyed in a wreck. If I recall correctly, the C&S had looked at renting C19's at an earlier point, but were concerned that they would not handle as much as their 70?class due to lower factors of adhesion, not lack of TE. This may be why they were rated with the smaller class of engines. In any event, hats off to those who have restored this engine!!
