Loop: Are trains at Georgetown even a remote possibility?

August 20, 2007 02:34PM
Well, Monday August 20 has arrived and I've heard nothing new about Georgetown being able to run any trains. I have people ask me where the closest steam train to the Front Range can be found.

A question: Would DRGW 315 be a suitable locomotive to run on the loop? After it's run to Silverton and bugs are worked out, would it even be reasonable to think about? Maybe a coal burner isn't suitable.

Durango is sure a lot closer to Georgetown than Sumpter. It could be that the politics that prevent one of the former Georgetown steamers from returning would also prevent any other Colorado steamer from being used.

Commentary welcome.
