No, the caboose pictured is not the 0503 but I believe it is the converted stock car caboose that the Friends have been working on. As for the paint, it may appear too shiny and off-shade, just because it is new.

What concerns me even more is the end platform railing on the caboose--someone please tell me that the "fancy" railing shown in the picture is not going to stay on the caboose.
