The two C-21s were also sleepy on the steamin' side. 375 was controversial. Some said it was another poor-firing engine, others liked it.

I think it was in one of the Lathrop books there was a story about the 375. No one could make the locomotive steam well; use all the standard methods to lay the fire and the locomotive just would not steam. Then in a fit of desperation the fireman just dumped the coal into the firebox in a very unprofessional manner. Next thing they knew the safety was popping.
