Main Narrow Gauge in trouble.

August 14, 2007 10:50AM
I know I am replying to my own post, but I wanted to add a few comments. The newspaper article sums up the situation in Maine pretty well. I was there last weekend on a bus tour and all I can say is that it is a shame that all of that wooden equipment is outside sitting in the Maine weather along the bay rotting. This is not a flame at the people at Maine Narrow Gauge as I am sure they are doing the best they can but wow, there is allot at risk here. At least the most valuable pieces are under some cover (for now). The whole place is quite a contrast with what is happening at WW&F over near Wiscasset. Most of the people on our bus tour of New England rail attractions said that they would not go back to Portland again. I hope all can be resolved up there.
