I was there in 93, I think it was, when it took several days just to get to the top of Cumbres Pass. The problem with running the rotary to open the line, as has been mentioned in other threads, is that come late April/early May the snow has been melted, compacted and turned to ice in a lot of area. The equipment takes a hell of a beating trying to get through ice plus whatever rocks have come down from above and got frozen in the snow. If you run the rotary, it should be in winter, not spring, and of course it would be for show so how would it get paid for?
