As Mark says most people learn here but we can be a bit crusty at times 
and there are some subjects that will always cause a bundle - just don't mention paint colours 
I don't know an enormous amount about US NG (the books cost a small fortune in the UK! However I am an active driver (engineer in US English) so I know how to run a loco and the website in the sig shows my main interest .
