Damn oil burners....too clean!! <img class=" />
Need some smoke to show its not a bloody diesel!!
Guess we have to wait for cold weather to be safe!
Actually there are a series of nice shots on Trainorders by a gal who shot near Sierra. A really lovely location with a series of reverse curves. Now, thats my kinda stuff!!!! Was wondering what the video would have looked, and sounded like at Sierra...I imagine I would have liked it!!!
As for the tender, I like the longer tender, and figure you will like its extra capacity. I think Loggerhogger posted as built shots of this engine, and believe me it looks much better with the vandy tender.
Tenders larger than the engines are not that uncommon. I saw several like that in South Africa. They had the Condensors with huge tenders, but also had longer than normal vanderbuilt tenders for some 19D 4-8-2's in a very arid region. These were called torpedo tenders.
Hope to see some more good action shots on the hill in the future. Glad you got the engine fixed,
and best of luck. Nice looking operation.
Last week we heard a QJ was coming to Kentucky(not more than 90 miles from here), and 1744 was operating. Good week for steam in general with the engines out west and lots of ops starting up like Sumpter, etc.
