Here in the first decade of the 21st century it will soon be able to ride behind steam over La Veta Pass; behind 315 out of Durango; behind 346 and _R_G_S_ 20 at the Museum (and who knows where else), not to even mention the fact that the "Circus Paint Scheme" trains at Knott's Berry Farm are wearing basic black with proper logos and appliances and hauling Pullman Green cars!
RGS B-20, the "Edna", long rotting and turning into matchwood, has been fully restored and made operational. We are riding Goose 5 over Cumbres Pass. 464 is back on the line at Huckleberry and never looked better.
And now there is a promise of a timely restoration for 463.
We hear of Loop closures, smoke issues, fire danger and other things but there is truly cause for rejoicing in the railroad community in these halcyon days of 2007! Long live the heritage!
