Earl, just out of curiosity, I looked through my SP slides & found one of 1744 taken at Indio in early summer if 1956. She & sisters were used on Imperial Valley locals. An old friend had hired out about then with the ideal of searching out the remaining steam on the L.A. Division. He got his butt chewed by suits who were quick to tell him that there was no future with steam. He couldn't have cared less!
