Trails Among the Columbine 1993/1994 has a nice shot (pg 78) by C. H. Clark in 1886 showing a mixed on the upper leg of the switchback. A little 2-8-0 pushing with a combine on the rear. Snow on the mountain and a harp switchstand in the foreground. Kindig has shots on pages 98 - 105 showing all three levels. Most other shots are from the east end of the switchback looking at the mid and upper levels. This seemed to be the favored spot just above and to the east of the switch.
