You don't have to have liked the fake stacks, but they were very much a part of "The Silverton"s image, and the D&RGW was very serious about that for almost 20 years.
I miss those days, and I miss those engines like that. If the D&S were to return one of the 470's to that 60's and 70's appearance for a Railfest, I'll bet it would be very popular. Especially if it could be #476 to do the honors.
Maybe one of these times.....
