It has to be close to Alamosa, as the report says the spreader was running hot and the engine (478) had to return to Alamosa for brass and dope. It was back and they continued on by 10AM. Woody Woodward says the hill at the Shawcroft's between Estrella and La Jara was referred to as nine mile hill. The person who wrote the report was a Third Divison man from Gunnison, so he may have gotten the MP wrong. They definitely tested it near Big Horn on the second day.
