You and I had the same response. But they held to the claim. That's why I posted it. Hopefully someone can chime in with D&RGW documentation to set us straight. If it turns out to be correct I'll let you know who told me.
Also - I have seen video footage of the 498 on Crested Butte with Green Jacket. That footage very clearly showed the cab roof was painted a Light Brown or Tan color. Was that standard on the Green Jacket Scheme? Or a one time thing with the 498?
That footage was release by a company called "Blackhawk Viedo's" as I remember. (Could be wrong its been about ten years) I'd like to find a copy but they have gone out of biz. any ideas? Also shown in that tape was some great shots of the 462 on the RGS turning on a wye somewhere on the line.
