As of last summer most of the grade west of Gunnison is still in existence from the point where it comes out from under US 50 (aprox mp 291.2) until it disapears under Blue Mesa Res(exact point varies with Res. depth). About 1 mile is available to hike from pine creek trail below Blue Mesa Dam to Morrow Point Res.
From Cimmaron to Cedar Creek most of the grade is still there except for a few sections buried by widening of US 50 (just east of Cerro) and some buried at the summit so that (I assume) the diversion ditch wouldn't need a bridge over the grade any more. Oh, and the slide area, of course. The grade west of Cedar Creek towards Montrose was mostly still there the last time I checked (2003) until you get close enough to town run into the sprawl.
