Curtis,
I have seen the size you are looking for in glass on ebay, but not often as you can imagine. I prefer glass although the plastic lenses do appear to work just as well. I look on ebay at least once a day searching for good glass lenses for my lantern projects.
We use my lanterns on the SVRy for our photo specials and the Night Train. The light from the lanterns can be seen about 2 miles out on the straight stretch between Hwy 7 and McEwen yards.
