During the early 1990's Gunnison Museum (268
Sargent tank etc.) had one train 40's era register. Gunnison, Sargent or Marshall Pass don't rememeber now. It was on display at that time.
Not exactly what you wanted to hear but at least there is one around. Dick Cooper, because he corresponded with a number of the then long retired 3rd division enginemen in Gunnsion & Montrose, that when he talked to the museum people, (he was a very believable 'socialite' railroader!) talked them into letting him remove it from the display case and taking it to a copy shop for a copy.
But what happened to the copy after he passed on is unknown. Nor, if Gunnision still has the original, displayed or not.
Because of Cooper and being on that trip with him, had the fortune to meet a number of the 3rd division old heads, and that was was worth the trip - if I knew then what I know now, would have asked good questions and listened more.
