The location of these two photos is fairly close by the still standing SN engine house, and the barn in the background of the one photo, looking NE, burned about 10 years ago. I would imagine the Stover ended up in the scrap drives of WWII. Silverton earned several E awards for the scrap drive efforts of the community--mills, mines, what ever wasn't guarded, was fair game for the locals who supplemented their incomes by looting everything in sight for the scrap values. There are numerous mentions made in the Silverton Standard about the volume of scrap that left town by train during the war--something to be proud of at the time.
