John's right that an inspection was done back when he and I were on the RGRPC board. It was done by Osmose, and, then in 2005, Jim Ozment and his team did an update to the Osmose survey (OO gauge?).
The Commission has the Ozment team report which covers 13 timber bridges and the 3 steel bridges, and lays out a 5-year maintenance and repair program for the bridges -- no surprises or concerns.
Planned maintenance program includes the usual recurring need to replace some ties, bents, and stringers on various timber bridges as time progresses. As for the steel bridges, all three needed minor repairs, the only issue that stood out was the need for remedial maintenance on the concrete abutments of the Rio Chama bridge which have experienced some cracking and spalling. The recommendation was to address these needs over the next five years.
