Man and Woman Thrown By Snowplow
A man and woman escaped without serious injury from a very thrilling experience with the snow plow on Cumbres Pass last Tuesday afternoon.
They were walking on the railroad tracks on top of the frozen snow in a cut when the snow plow came upon them. There was no means of escape on either side and the big plow obscures the whole front end of the locomotive. They were not seen by the engineer. The man was thrown clear to the top of the cut when the plow struck them and was uninjured, but the woman was less fortunate. She did not reach the top but rolled back down into the cut and was dragged several hundred feet when the plow caught her clothing, before he was extricated from her perilous situation.
The woman was hurried to Chama for first aid medical attention and would have been taken on to the hospital at Durango had her condition necessitated, but her injuries were not found serious.
