Unfortunately, the F*L-6 series of Cooper-Bessemer engines seem to have a habit of committing suicide by detonating a power assembly. I know of several GE 70 tonners that met their demise that way, the Baltimore and Annapolis one at the B&O Museum operated at the end as a FDL-5 (with the bad PA blanked out.) I seem to recall that is what happened to the original prime mover to the Gypsum locomotive. Any comments on the condition of the replacement prime mover to the 1203?
