Boy, that was some neat trick wasn't it? It was like some people being engaged before they were born. Actually my maternal grandfather was very much alive for almost 40 years before a side effect of an appendix operation killed him on March 22, 1922.
My mother was not yet 2.
I think there might be a child labor law that prohibits hiring someone before they were born. UP might have wanted to get them early to train them the way it wants them.
