The GW is actually booming. They run 7 days a week. They have a switcher crew at Fort Collins and have two crews working daily. One works from Fort Collins to Windsor and sometimes over to Greeley (GW purchased the BNSF branch from FC to Greeley years ago). The other crew works from Loveland to Windsor and the Longmont branch.
The trains out of Fort Collins are typically 85 cars with three geeps. The UP unit-corn trains are typically 100 cars with three GEs or SD90s. Seems a bit strange to see such large power on the light rail of the GW. They just rebuilt the trestle across the Poudre River in Windsor to handle these trains.
