I suppose I could get the Rio Grande guys in an uproar because I happen to wish that we could restore the ex-F&CC engines back to their former selves, too - after all, that was the railroad they were built for and I love their look in the old photos. However, I know that they were extensively rebuilt over the years and it would be almost impossible to bring them back. I'd sure love to see RGS 20 restored to her F&CC look. But, they are better-known for their service in the railroad that bought them and returned them to service.
A good example is 315 .... I would have loved to see her restored to her F&CC look rather than D&RGW, but it can't happen. Besides the mechanical changes wrought by her later owners, I would run the risk of being burnt at the stake by Fritz and others if I did holler about it like some folks have hollered about the former Q and NP engines.
I for one would much rather see them restored and if possible, back in steam, even with some changes.
