Re: Who owns the new Sumpter Valley?

>Who owns the new Sumpter Valley narrow gauge? Is it privately owned and operated like the D&S? Is it owned by a museum?
It is an operating museum, operated by it's members. Members receive no monetary benefits and cannot sell their membership.
>Is it owned by the state/county like the C&TS?
It is not state/county/city or federally owned. SVRy does receive some grants from state and federal agencies.
SVRy is an operating steam railroad museum incorporated under the state of Oregon non-profit statutes. Members pay annual dues or pay for lifetime membership in order to participate in the operation and restoration. SVRy has a few staff employees, some of whom are also volunteers.
>Just curious.
>Last question - where would the funding come from for the rumored replicas to be built of the 2-6-6-2s?
Donations from individuals and grants.
Last year SVRy celebrated it's 35th year, and 30th year of operating. Go to the SVRy web site for more info: www.svry.com.
