Re: Rio Turbio 2-10-2 Question-How Sharp A Curve?

Kevin,
I got an answer to your question from Shaun McMahon who is heavily involved in the work to rebuild and extend the line and especially to rebuild and upgrade the remaining servicable 2-10-2's. Shaun says the minimum radius curves on the existing RFIRT are 90 meters radius (you'll have to do your own conversion to U.S. units), so he knows the 2-10-2's will handle curves that tight. He says depending on which formula you use, the engines should take considerably tighter curves, but it would take experimentation to verify this.
I wonder if Mitsubishi could turn out new steamers if someone had the cash? <img class=" />
