Interesting info Earl.
As you know I am working on a book on D&RGW/RGS snow fighting and relish any accounts of snow ops on the D&RGW.
51-52 was a difficult year for the D&RGW ng, but not the worse by far. 1932 was the worst, followed by 1916 and 1899.
Following is someinteresting data from a D&RGW request to abandon the Floresta branch on average annual snow fall on the D&RGW narrow gauge. These figures were as of 1928.
Kebler Pass (on the Floresta branch west of Crested Butte): 460 inches a year.
Cumbres Pass: 260 inches a year.
Marshall Pass: 175 inches a year.
Gunnison: 50 inches a year.
