Interesting day. Sounds like a looooooong day for the crew of the 486. Train and helpers up to Cumbres, run through with train to presumably Big Horn, set out loads, turn engine, flanger and caboose, and return to Cumbres (and presumably Chama).....maybe plowing some sidings enroute? Wonder if it was planned that way, or if it was one of those "oh @#$%&" kind of happenings somewhere around Big Horn. Hope the crew had some extra underwear for yet another night (or really day) in Chama. What were the HOS limitations in 1937? Neat stuff.
