I notice that eastbound 116 was by Cumbres at 1:55am on the 16th, some 10:20 late (train of the 15th), and then westbound 115 was back at Cumbres at 11:55am, only 10 hours later. Both trains had 475 as one of the locos.
Can anyone tell from the records at hand how the Rio Grande turned the San Juan at Alamosa on this date and got it back to Cumbres in only 10 hours? I would have expected the Rio Grande to have a makeup train ready in Alamosa for an on-time departure on the morning of the 16th, but with the 475 being used both ways, it appears the same train consist just turned back at Alamosa. Were the consists of both trains the same cars? Seems odd that a subsitute consist would be used but still have the 475 both ways.
Either way, 475 sure did not spend much time in Alamosa that morning!
